Please test! ScummVM DS 0.13.1 beta3 download here!

Post by agentq »

Please test this new beta version of ScummVM, and post your results here. If you try this out, please post how you got on here, whether it worked or not.

When you post, try to include:
* Your card reader
* The game you were testing (including which language it runs in)

If you see problems, please post the details of those too.

Since this is hopefully the final beta, if you use this build, please post a short message with what game you played, and what hardware you used. That way I know what has been tested.

Since this is a beta version, full instructions are not yet available, but instructions for use are essentially the same as the previous version, so see the ScummVM DS website at http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com

http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/scummv ... 2beta3.zip

Fixes in beta3:
- Fixed a bug where the cursor would display in the wrong place
when screen were swapped.
- Fixed a bug where the screens wouldn't swap back in certain
cases when on a menu screen.

- Fixed long pauses in Kyrandia.

New features:
- Access to the global ScummVM main menu. Hold select during the game to access it.

Hi agentq, and thank you for this new release ;)

works flawlessly on both my R4SDHC and Acekard2i.

I tried (so far) :

Day of the tentacle
Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis
Monkey Island
Maniac Mansion
Legend of Kyrandia

BTW when returning to launcher in Monkey Island, music still play...and if I launch another game (Maniac Mansion for example), I have Monkey Island + Maniac Mansion music at the same time (pretty funny :D)

Kyrandia 2 (floppy) hangs when saving (using a Supercard DS one). Actually, the save is created fine, and can be loaded afterwards, but the game hangs after creating it. Saving seems to work fine in other games I've tried (including Kyrandia 1).

Hi and thanks for all your hard work.

A few bugs i have noticed though:

* When you click "Load" from the SummVM main menu, there is a save slot for a "0." game but when you save a game you can only pick from "1." and upwards.
* Also same menu if you click "Delete" and confirm it, the save game remains ie: it dosent get deleted at all.
* The "Disable power off" option dosent actually work for me, when i click "Quit" from the games or the ScummVM menu it still shuts down my DS instead of returning to the DS main menu.
* As stated above .wav files still play when you return to the main ScummVM menu.

All these are with my DSi and an Acekard 2i with AKAIO v1.4.1

One thing i would love to see is an option to turn the zoomed in screen off so its just black but it still shows which mouse button is selected. Not a big fan of seeing the zoomed in action my self tbh.

Hope this helps, carry on this great work.

This is not a bug. Save slot 0 is used for auto-saving, and you can't overwrite that save game yourself. Auto-saving is set in the options->misc dialog.

Unfortunately, the deadline for submitting my 0.13.1 build came too soon for me to fix the bugs people have mentioned here. It's still been useful to know about then - I'll fix those for the next release of ScummVM - but the final 0.13.1 release still has these issues.

The one I think is most serious is the CD audio not stopping when you return to the launcher. On the other hand, it only affects a few games.

I also managed to reproduce the crash when saving in Beneath a Steet Sky, but have no idea why I didn't get it to happen before.

Anyway, thanks for everyone who tested. Please hang around for the next release and test again!

hello!

thanks for all the hard work so far. i'm just wondering though, should i upgrade from 0.11 to this version (0.13.1 stable), or wait for your next batch of bugfixes. i will be playing BASS very soon so i'd like to know if you are going to release the bugfixes any time soon. thanks.

I would upgrade to 0.13.1. The BASS crash is easily avoided, and the other bugs are minor annoyances which won't spoil your enjoyment of the game.

Besides, there were bugs in 0.11.0 as well. No code is ever completely bug free.

Enjoy the game!

Hi,

ScummVM didn't work on my EDGE v1.45.

ScummVM block after the message:
DLDI Device:
'EDGE v1.0'
DLDI Driver Initialised OK!"

The screen at the bottom is black.
