LucasArts Posters - The better thread

Post by Laserschwert »

I've decided to start a new topic on this, making it all a little cleaner and clearly arranged. Whenever there's new posters, I'll add them to this post.

The intro:
I've always been a fan of both painted artworks/posters and the classic LucasArts adventure games, and so I'm trying to preserve those classic artworks by Steve Purcell, Bill Eaken and the likes, cleaning them up, painting out overlaying text or stickers, plus taking the extra step to make these babies printable at poster size (or make them work as posters AT ALL).

Thanks to everybody who helped me gather material, scanning their game-boxes and -manuals, without you I wouldn't have come this far.

Big thanks to the fabulous Adventure-Treff for hosting most of these files!

(this thread is now easily reachable through poster.mixnmojo.com)

Direct download links can be found at the Adventure-Treff

So, here we go:

Great idea.
Ive just bought a german version of FOA for the amiga, I get an original poster in the box with it :)
I also have the ability to scan up to 1200 dpi at A3 size.
:D
I will get my sam and max season one poster through soon as well, I think i'll scan it and resize it so it doesnt look too odd next to all the others.

You mean the "Highway Surfing"-poster that comes with Jowood's European release? They have that one as an official print at Telltale's store now... if wanted signed by Steve Purcell. So we probably shouldn't put it up for download.

And scanning at A3: WOW! Not only is my scanner A4, it's crap as well.

Could you try scanning the FOA-poster? After all, the version I have (from the Lucasmuseum) isn't 100% perfect, since it was scanned in parts (duh!) and then put together... not as perfect as it could be. We could make a PERFECT one - color and detail-wise - with the one you have (which should be around A3, right?).

Yeah its the highway surfing poster, The Jowood poster though not the one on sale on the site. I wasnt going to upload it I was just thinking of keeping my copy safe.

Unfortunately its not my scanner, but my girlfriend has access at the university to the room that its in :D

Once I get the copy of the game through I'll get the poster scanned straight away.

Its about A3 size, but unfortunately it has been folded into 8 pieces when it was sold with the game.
an image of it is here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=003
I suppose if I put enough weight onto the scanner then it should scan alright, might have to work out some of the creases though.
what dpi should I scan it at. full 1200? Might take a while to upload though :)

I was intending on scanning it anyway, that way I can leave it in the box and keep it safe :)

600dpi should be enough... there's not enough info on an offset-print for more than that.
