ScummVM on AppleTV?

Post by rasmus2000 »

Just an idea.... Is anyone working on a port for AppleTV?

Basically it's the same as OS X but it would be cool to have everything integrated nicely into the AppleTV user interface and with support for the Apple remote.

since this is done in peoples free time, i doubt that it will appear as a port, since it isn't yet.

the best i can say to you is, unfortunately, you'll have to do it yourself.

it shouldn't be that difficult, I mean, if you can figure out how to edit the AppleTV firmware, then it should actually install nicely.

Yeah, so we only need someone who:
- has an AppleTV device
- has good knowledge of C++
- has free time to understand how ScummVM's backends work
- has free time to implement all the needed parts for the AppleTV backend
- has the willingness to keep working on the port, fixing any bugs that may arise

If you can find such a person then yeah, development on such a port is doable. It certainly isn't "easy", though

AppleTV is actually just running a modified OS X - I have scummvm running on my appletv - with no controls though :-(

We just need someone to make it possible to control ScummVM with the Apple remote :-D.

oh sorry - though you could probably do without the actual AppleTV device... It seems there is 3rd party software for making the remote act as a mouse, but I haven't been able to make it work probably yet...
