Scummvm + monkey island 3 probs on linux

Post by NDR008 »

Hi, I've successfully loaded my files off the CDs to play on scummvm.
I even got Broken Sword to work with mpeg playback (using Linux by the way.)
BUT! Monkey Island 3 doesn't load. So I ran Scummvm via a console

and noted this error when I tried to load Monkey Island 3:
Trying to start game 'The Curse of Monkey Island'
NutRenderer::loadFont() Can't open font file: font0.nut!

Any help?

Cheers.
ps keep up the work guys!

i was searching into it on the net, and came across something about being able to created compressed version of the game with some tools, what's that?

also, were some of the games released for more then one platform? if so, do these all run to the same approximate quality or is it worth buying some specific platform versions of certain games as opposed to others? thanks.

That file, along with several others that you also need, should be in the resource directories on the CDs. (As the README points out, some files appear on both CDs. In that case, it shouldn't matter which one you pick.)

There are two tools, compress_scumm_san and compress_scumm_bun. You should be able to find information about them, and the third-party tools you need, in older threads on the forums.

The PC versions of the games are likely to be the most well tested, by virtue of being the most common ones.

The stupidly rare and expensive FM-TOWNS versions of Zak McKracken, Loom and (perhaps to a lesser extent) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade are generally considered superior to the PC versions for having better graphics and/or sound. But I don't have any of those myself, so I couldn't say for sure.
