SCSD / M3SD test version. Please download and post results!

Post by agentq »

Yes, it's yet another test version of ScummVM.

With any luck, this version will support various SC SD versions as well as M3 SD versions.

You will need to hold L or R on first boot depending on whether you have an M3 SD or SC SD. Instructions appear on screen.

As usual, post whether it works for you, whether it does or not. I want to know whether I've succeded or not. Include which card reader you're using when you post.

I can confirm that this works perfectly with my Supercard SD with 1gb Viking SD card. Tested with Zak McKracken and saving/loading is working fine. Also seems to retain Supercard setting fine after a reboot.

Nope, I'm not using the zip method - I botched it the one time I did try to use it. X) Anyways, I'm enjoying Zak Mckracken as we speak - can't wait to try out Kyrandia and StS2 =D

I'm giving it a go on both cards now, will report back in a few minutes.

=edit=

SC-SD (last version without the added bars on the back), SanDisk 1GB microSD card 60x (not sure about the speed though, at any case it isn't an ultra), NDSlite with MK4-mini;
--------------------------------------------------
Works like a charm, saving works (loaded a save I already made with b5), keeps the SC-SD reader settings after a reboot

M3-lite *perfect*, same SD card, same NDSL;

Great job agentq!

=edit2=
It seems like the "pressing L/R" detection is also better in this build.

My DS is currently charging, but i´ll edit this message after that. I will try on my M3 mini v2, on the previously working, and the not working cards.

===Edited===

First the funny part.

I installed the new version, and forgot to press L.
Scumm booted and used the M3 driver. Was this changed???

Now for the tests:

Previously working cards on Beta 5 (2x Kingston 1 Gb): Still Working.

Not working cards on Beta 5 (The cursed one, also Kingston 1 Gb): WORKING :)

All my mini sd cards now work. NIIIIIIIIIICE!

(sorry for the doublepost in the other thread, my bad)

tested on a sc lite:

Almost there it seems. Only the gamesaves don't work for me. When i try to save (not on a prior save cause i got none), the ds turns black and freezes. And when i reboot the savegame section (of monkey island 1), it notes it's got a garbled savegame file. On repeated saves it gives the same troubles.

The ini-file saves correctly however, so the sd card is noted on startup.

If you used beta 5 before then you would have a saved setting on card (and that's why in SRAM). That's why scummvm would load the driver which was saved in setting.

Well... You are correct about that...
But you are missing the real point why I wrote that.

In the cards I tested, there was no save file at all. I have three cards, two wich always worked, and one wich hanged after the zip check.

Only one of the two working has scumm, and the other two were stripped of the scumm executables and the scumm.dat files in the NDSSAVES dir.

The first card tested had no .dat associated with scumm in it, and it was installed fresh, so nothing was present in that file, and the m3 was detected.

There is another possibility though. I could have some data in memory from a previous scumm execution. I failed to notice if something was written to the freshly created .dat file after boot.

This is not important though. Important is the fact that scumm works, and that my previously not working card is now working too. :D

without:
flash card reader not found

hardware:

well good enough for me ;)

--> edit:
as soon as i start moonshell (not the m3 version, v144) all saves are gone. anyone else can confirm this?

Don't forget there seems to be a problem with savegames on SC lite with this release. I think it would be nice to correct this before final release.
