The new dxa's varied from being half the size to even smaller!
The downside, of course, is that they will not be compatible with ScummVM 0.9.x.

The way encode_dxa works is that it tries several different compression methods for each frame, and picks the one that produces the smallest output. The SVN version has added one - or was it more than one? - new compression method, and of course there had to be a corresponding decompressor added to the DXA player.

slight down side but I can live with that... they will all be compat, when the new 10/+ version is released in the end..

impressive work!...
if I remember right they went from something like 1.5gb to 1.2gb..

I'm currently working on a patch for the Dxa encoder (and player) that produces even smaller files. (Files made with the current SVN encoder will still be playable.)

wow even smaller.... !!! I'll get ready to re-encode them again when the time comes :)
