The Art of Point-and-Click Adventure Games

Post by marticus »

Doesn't seem to have come up before, but since it just arrived on my doorstep, The Art of Point-and-Click Adventure Games is a beautiful retrospective with gorgeous pictures.
I'm sure the words are good too, but I haven't gotten that far :)

Beautiful book, can't recommend it enough. As the title suggests it features mostly art along with brief descriptions of the games, which are ordered chronologically, so it functions as a sort of visual history of the genre. But it's also full of interesting interviews with AG designers, some of which are not that well known, so you're likely too learn a few things you didn't know about, even if you're a hardcore fan.

Sadly, I didn't even know about it until after people started posting their unboxing of it. So I missed the limited edition pre-order. :(

Not that I had the money anyway.
