F5 on Beneath a Steel Sky?

Post by dolong8888 »

I'm trying to access the sky's menu, to do that according to the android faq I need to press F5 by pressing shift+5, but in my android phone numeric keyboard there is no shift. Tried to long press 't' (or shift+t)in the text keyboard (thats the way you get a '5' in the text keyoboard) to no avail.
Anyone knows how to get to the menu?

Thanks,
Daniel

I would suggest you install the full Hacker's Keyboard which is open source and free from Google Play etc:
https://code.google.com/p/hackerskeyboard/

This will not be as restricted as the standard virtual keyboard.

Please can you indicate what your Android device is, so we can work out if this affects just a single manufacturer / version of Android or is a general problem.

Thanks for the quick response, I tried the Hacker's Keyboard F5 without success.
I asume the game is accepting the Hacker's Keyboard input because when I press the arrows the mouse arrow moves as well.

My cellphone:
Jiayu G2 (chinese brand) running Android 4.0.4, Dual Core CPU MT6577, 512 ram, 480x800.

My goal was to enable Text and talkie, because english is not my first language, is there other way to enable this?

Ah... Not a brand which I recognise and maybe it is doing something odd in the keyboard input events.

You could also directly edit the configuration file and set speech_mute and subtitles booleans in the [sky] section.
See section 8 of the README file:

The android is a pretty standard one, virtually no customization.

Anyway, I spotted in a thread here (http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=12183) this alternate build at http://anddev.at.ua/load/scummvm_svn55436/1-1-0-7
It doesn't fix the keyboard problem for me, but it has an on screen own keyboard that works at least to change the settings.
