Nightly running on 2.3.4

Post by Skylark »

Hello,

I just wanted to mention, even though all the info I've read suggests that ScummVM wouldn't run on my Android 2.3.4 phone (Nexus One with custom ROM), I tried yesterday's nightly, and it works for me. I tried DOTT (talkie) and KQ6 (non-talkie), both work fine.

Perhaps the FAQ should be updated:
https://sites.google.com/site/scummvmandroid/faq

In particular this section:

"Current market version doesn't work on Android 2.0+ (eg: Motorola Droid, Nexus 1, etc)

... yet. Sorry.
This is why you can't find ScummVM on the market from an Android 2.0 device."

I think it should be added that you can still download a nightly and that works. The page specifies "current market version" but doesn't say what alternative there is to the market version, and whether the current market version is the latest... So a newbie (me at least) is left thinking that the "latest" version, which is on the market, can't work on their phone.

Anyways, I'm glad I didn't just give up and tried the nightly! Thanks for a great port.

[edit] On a related note, I'm a programmer and like to dabble and tinker, and I'd be interested in compiling my own build of ScummVM for Android. I've already got the developer tools installed and have compiled some other things for Android. I found this:
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Compi ... n_Windows)
But it has nothing related to building ScummVM specifically. Can anyone point me to some info on that? Thanks in advance.
