Mouse issue full screen ScummVM Remote Desktop on iPad

Post by ajvdhave »

Dear support thanks for paying attention!

I like to use ScummVM on my iPad, the easier way I figured for my situation is to use Windows Remote Desktop to my Windows 10 pc.
It works mostly perfect for animation and sound if ScummVM is in windowed mode.

For reasons I can vaguely imagine if I change to fullscreen mode the mouse behaves to fast and is uncontrollable.
I guess it has something to do with the game running in a different resolution than the Windows desktop environment..
Searching the internet I couldn't find solutions but I did find other people having similar situations with older software running through Remote Desktop.

Could this be fixed in some way changing something in ScummVM?

I’ll try to give some extra information.
The Windows 10 (64bit pro version) pc I use has an HP monitor with Full HD 16:9 1920x1080 resolution, I use an iPad mini 4 that has a 4:3 2048x1536 resolution.

Using the Remote Desktop app on the iPad I think it uses scaling, scaling may also be an issue for the mouse pointer in ScummVM games.
Maybe also the change in aspect ratio could be a problem, I prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio of the iPad to get a game filling full screen of the older Lucasarts and Sierra games.

I had to change a Windows compatibility setting in the properties on the ScummVM program shortcut and check the “Disable display scaling on high DPI settings” to get ScummVM games to fit in the iPad screen (when in full screen mode), otherwise it would be zoomed in on a part in the middle of the games screen.

When I run this command in a prompt
“wmic desktopmonitor get screenheight, screenwidth”
it doesn’t display anything operating in Remote Desktop.
And when I just run “wmic desktopmonitor” it mentions the HP Full HD monitor.
I’m guessing but maybe ScummVM gets confused with this situation for the mouse pointer?

The games I test with now are The Curse of Monkey Island (Windows English) and Space Quest III…DOS English.
The Graphics mode is set to OpenGL, this is the only way as far as I know to get a good full screen image on the iPad.

I got info and ideas through these useful websites:

Sorry to bother you guys, like with adventure games, this is a puzzle to me..
I hope what I like to achieve is practical.
