This game is listed on the supported games page, but there is nio entry for the required files on the data files page.
Just providing the football2002.* files ((a),(b),he0,he2,he3.he4) starts the game, but when you actually get to on the field play, it pulls up the debugger and states it couldn't load a resource.
I added the folders from the CD called DATA, and the folder from the install root called 'sounds', but I got the same error.
I then tried it by giving it every single file from the disc. Still no luck. So it seems I am missing something.
Some tips on what i am missing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

0, 2, 3, 4, a, b, and DATA (as-is) are all you need.scoriae wrote:This game is listed on the supported games page, but there is nio entry for the required files on the data files page.

I don't have my decompiled scripts handy, but since it's while getting to the field, I'm guessing it's loading the field data. Those should be the he3 file. Could you try recopying that off the disc? If not, please post the md5s of your files.scoriae wrote:I tried just those files - still got the same error. Using 1.8.0git108-g7d4b050 (Jul 25 2014)
specific error is:
ERROR: (11:298:0x180): Cannot load resource!
For reference, here are the md5 sums (unpatched):
(They're the Macintosh names, but the data is exactly the same.)
Code: Select all
MD5 (Football 2002 (0)) = a095616d2d23ccf43b8e257711202cba
MD5 (Football 2002 (2)) = 7c6f5da8f9d223942ff387c3b3b1262a

odd, all mine are different:

Looks like you may have a variant version.
Can you give the details of the CD i.e. a scan of the front and back artwork, pressing id, publisher, language, country of release etc. please?
That will help locate a developer who has this variant or allow an interested developer to buy a copy of this variant..

So do you guys still want details about it? If Kirben used to have it, then do you already have the info you need for it?
I got the cd off amazon. It came in a jewelcase - no manual or original box. I don't really see any markings or version numbers on the cd that would suggest a specific release or version.
If it helps, here are the dates for the main files:
Football2002.(a), 8/13/2001
Football2002.(b), 8/13/2001
Football2002.HE0, 8/13/2001
Football2002.HE2, 8/7/2001
Football2002.HE3, 7/30/2001
Football2002.HE4, 7/30/2001
edit: I Just purchased a second copy from eBay. Maybe this one will have better luck...

I don't think there's any other info I need from you. I need to decompile the scripts to see what causes that error.scoriae wrote:So do you guys still want details about it? If Kirben used to have it, then do you already have the info you need for it?
Wait, what? Why on Earth would you do that?scoriae wrote:edit: I Just purchased a second copy from eBay. Maybe this one will have better luck...
I mean, ScummVM's whole purpose is to be able to play all these games. You already have the game. We want to fix the problem, not cause you to go out and buy a new one. Not to mention -- you might not even get the same version as me! Or it might not even be a problem with the version you have! You've completely befuddled me.
Because I have no idea how long it will take to fix, and even once you do fix it I would have to use an SVN copy. It was over 12 months between the last two stable releases, so I'd rather not have to wait over a year or so for the next stable release that actually includes the fix.
I ruin scummvm on my htpc via the stable release, so if I want this game running anytime between now and then, I have to have a copy that actually works.
