[4.3e] Scummvm starts in classic mode and no USB drive

Post by simkin »

I installed scummvm (1.3.0svn54902) on the fat32 partition of my hard drive and am able to start it via HBC v1.08, IOS58 V24.32. However, the GUI is in classic mode and my HD partition is not found while browsing. I am not using an SD card for loading the app/hosting the games.

Wii backup games can be loaded using the usb loader app and scummvm itself is starting, so I believe the USB drive should be usable. Can anyone tell me what is likely going wrong?

Expected: Scummvm started with modern skin and being able to browse the HD partition.

Many thanks in advance for helping.

So you mean you're loading the .dol (ScummVM) from USB?
I have loaded ScummVM using Wiiload in the past. The dhewg app for sending dols wireless. As it loads the dol it uses the gui which is part of the dol - the classic gui. The modern GUI is a zip file which should be in the same folder as the .dol executable. Just like it works with desktop platforms. If not present it falls back to classic. So check the folder with the .dol file in it.

Yes, the application is running from the HD partition (no SD card inserted). I do not see a .DOL file however.

The directory contains the following files:

Code: Select all

It seems to contain the .zip files you are refering too (scummmodern.zip). Any other thoughts?

I had the same issues. The new HBC 1.0.8 uses ios 58. Somehow, if the scummvm dol is launched from usb, the program itself has problems to access the drive itself. Due to that reason, it can't load the modern theme from disc. If you browse for games, you are unable to switch to the usb drive for it.

There are a couple of things you can do:

1. You can install the wiixplorer program and launch the scumm dol from there. This normally works in my case.

2. You can install the latest channel forwarder and launch the scummvm from that.

3. Use a launcher dol to start scummvm.
I found the nforwarder58 usefull for that. It's the kind of dol that is used in the channel forwarders to launch a program. All I did was change the path and application it launched. I also changed the png that it shows when loading an application.

I also changed the scummvm code a little, so that it reloads ios58 at startup. This mod, together with the nforwarder58 made it work for me every time:

1. Using the HBC
2. Using Wiixplorer
3. Using the new usbloader_gx launch option.
4. Using the old channel forwarder, after I changed the dol with the nforwarder58 dol.
5. Using other launch methods that still used ios 37 or 38.

I don't know exactly on which svn version of scummvm my dol is based. I reported a bug fix for the wii port and the humonogous games, but they haven't merged it with their source yet.

If you want the dol's, or have more questions, just send me a PM.

regards.

I uploaded my scummvm dol and a forwarder for it.

The forwarder can be launched from the HBC, usbloader-gx..
The program has my humogonous patches so you can play
The Freddi Fish, Putt Putt and Pajama Sam games without
disapearing cursor.
I put the virtual keyboard back in.

Hope you like it. Comments are welcome.

I'll grab this now obcd. I don't get much time for playing. I got a few Humongous games from a charity shop recently and if I can find the time your build will come in handy. I hope your patch(es) get accepted sometime.

A similar problem has just been posted regarding the pointers in these games.

Sorry about hi-jacking the thread a little simkin. By the way you say you can't find a .dol. Having not played on the Wii in some time I can't remember the latest format. It might be an .elf instead of a .dol. Both have been used as Wii executable types.

Wife and kids went to bed early tonight and I finally got a chance to install your new build. So far everything looks great. My setup is a little different than yours...I run the program from SD and the games from a folder on my FAT32 USB so I just had to rename the scummvm.dol from scummvm folder to boot.dol and move it into the apps/scummvm folder. Keyboard works fine and using my old ini file it recognized all my themes and games correctly 1st try. The real test will be when my son plays Freddi Fish 3...lol. I think he's stuck...didn't finish it in 10 minutes like part 2! I will let you know if anything unusual pops up.

Thanks again.
