Can't start MI3 and Broken Sword I/II

Post by Xtreme »

Hey everyone!
First of all I want to say: ScummVM is GREAT!! Keep up the good work!
Now why I'm here:
I can play a lot of games e.g. MI1/2, Indiana Jones,...
fine on my Becker 7928, which uses Windows CE 5.0
But then I tried installing MI3, which I really really love,
and then everytime I want to start it something like that appears:

- Fatal Application Error
-
- Application SCUMMVM.EXE has performed an illegal
- operation and will be shut down. If the problem
- persists, contact the program vendor.
-
- Program: SCUMMVM.EXE
- Exception: 0xC0000005
- Adress: see three posts later...

Language: German, but I also tried English.

The same error appears when I try to start broken sword 1 or 2.
I'm using Gapi (emulation mode, cause my becker isn't registered in it) and ScummVM 0.12.0.
I also tried ScummVM 0.10.0, but that makes no difference either.

Thanks in advance!

I searched around on the net, and it might be that the Z200 only has a 320x240 pixel screen resolution - incidentially, all three games you try to run require at least a 640x480 screen.

(Oddly enough, some ad texts for the device speak of "high resolution" - if 320x240 is high I don't want to know what a low resolution is to them :))

Last time I tried there was some 'downscaler' which scaled 640x480 to 320x240. So I guess the source of the problem is another thing. Maybe out of ram or something?

Hey and thanks for your comments!

The 7928 has a 480x272 resolution. My mind was with the Z200 of my son, which has the same problem... Sorry!
The device has 128MB of ram, so I don't think that this is the problem. I'll try to emulate a 640x480 resolution could that help?

Can someone estimate, when the 7928 will be supported, so that I do not have to run emulation mode?

Thank you guys!

Xtreme

Edit: Now I got my Becker back :D
The Eror-Adress is: 01F73B08
Does that help?

EDIT2:
THE RESOLUTION IS THE PROBLEM!!!
I changed it to 480x640 and now I can play the game!!!
But: The resolution isn't for my becker and it looks horrible! :D

Edit3:
I've tested a bit more. Every resolution is working, except 480x272. 240x320 works, but then the game is turned 90° ccw and I can still see windows. Is it possible to turn the game 90° cw and center it?
Or can someone think of another workaround?

Edit4:
I finally found an acceptable solution. By turning the Buffer and the touchscreen 90° I can now play in 320x240.
Because 480x272 isn't possible the games ran in 320x240 too (but centered), so until my device will be supported (I hopw that will happen in future) I'm staying with these setting.
Thank you all!
