Compressing .SOU?

Post by Rakani Firedorn »

Just a quick one I hope.

Never bothered with compressing of LEC data files before now but decided I wanted to make a compilation dvd of all my games.

Using the compress monster sou util, either in mp3 or ogg doesnt work.
I'm assuming its because i dont have lame or ogg encoders, how do I set those up for use with the compression tool?

If I remember correctly, you just need to copy the .EXEs to the same folder as the SOU compression tool.

... That, or make sure that the folder they reside in listed in the PATH environment variable.

Assuming you're a Windows user...

OggEnc2 (special optimised build)
http://homepage3.nifty.com/blacksword/o ... 050709.zip

Lame (from the first place I could actually find it)

you can also try ScummVMQuickandEasy. It has a nice GUI for the compression tools. And you get the encoders aswell :)

Ogg Vorbis is better than MP3 in all respects.

So the compression to quality is pretty good? I guess its worth the extra time to do it that way then.

Speaking of audio compression, the SAGA compressor, does it work ok? I was thinking of doing it for ITE
