If a SCUMMVM Channel was WiiWare...

Post by chojin »

How many Wii Homebrew users are interested in SCUMMVM? How many would use SCUMMVM if available w/o TL hack etc.?

There are plenty of bugs that will allow us to install the Homebrew channel, but let's face it guys, Nintendo will always be looking to stop them(as we have seen with the latest system update) and likely, soon removing unauthorized channels.

A lot of us have already bought games via the virtual console, so why not spend a few bucks to have a copy of scummVM that Nintendo doesn't mind you having?

Personally, I feel this fine program is worth 1000points(provided it includes updates free of charge).

That being said, I do realize that it is unlikely that scummVM will ever be released as a legit channel, due to what likely adds up to a high cost to make it happen

An official ScummVM for WiiWare is not only unlikely but simply impossible.
ScummVM is GPL, so anything that's changed for the Wii version would have to be public. There are NDAs, licences etc that surely prohibit something like that.
So, even if a ScummVM developer managed to get an official devkit, there is no way that Nintendo would allow this sort of program - don't forget, it's them, who have the last word about what will finally be downloadable in the WiiWare channel..

chrisis is bang on the money there. As much as I would like one, in an ideal world, its just not realistic :( Homebrew always finds a way, in the end, so does it really matter? As soon as a solid build is released it can be made into a Channel anyway

Last Votes anyone? (not taking issues with GPL and WiiWare into consideration...)
