Monkey Island 3 Problems

I'm having a problem playing The Curse of Monkey Island on my iPhone. To try and not spoil the game, I'm going to put it this way. I'm further into the game and I'm at a spot where I have to stand still but use an item from my inventory on another certain object. There's no way to close the inventory with the item still selected without moving my character.

Has anyone else had this problem or know a way around it?

Open your inventory, turn off mouse-click-and-drag mode, select the item, drag it down to the bottom of the screen (which will close the inventory), then you can use it on the other item

Thank you Vinterstum!

I used scp to get my save off my iPhone and use ScummVM on my Mac to get past the part, then save and reupload, but I hope that helps someone else.
