CECT phones

Post by Jojo Jr. »

Hi all. Could anyone tell me whether a port could be created for one of these CECT phones I keep seeing everywhere?

Some are said to have OS, some aren't. I hear 'modified Windows Mobile 6' in some places, and 'Symbian' in others.

One of the best phones CECT have released thus far is the A380i, which I believe runs off a MediaTek MTK 6226/6227 motherboard. I have a feeling this could be problematic in running third party apps, but there is a micro-SD reader in the phone itself - I guess, kinda like on an R4DS.

I suppose, what I'd really like to know is whether there's any hope of SCUMMVM running off an A380i, or similar, some time in the near future. And how complicated/time consuming would such a port take to develop?

Thanks in advance,

I'm not really sure what OS this phone has, but according to this post:

its OS is java based, and it's neither Symbian nor Windows Mobile, so ScummVM will probably not run on these phones - a lot of people report that they've been unable to run custom applications, so while those CETC phones look fancy and look a lot like iPhone, they don't run any homebrew applications at all.
