Broken Sword 1 startup problem

Post by Adventureguy »

Hello,
I just bought me a Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 PocketPC to play ScummVM on it. As I tried to play Broken Sword 1 on it, I only heard the voice of the intro video but I couldn't watch the video sequence because an error about an "unrecoverable exception occurred". The crashfile says:

Has anyone any ideas why this crash happens? I'm using the stable version of the download section.

Is that version 0.9.0 or 0.9.0a?

I don't know. I just downloaded it today from the download section. The version is "ScummVM 0.9.0 (Jul 2 2006 19:27:07)". I don't know if it's the 0.9.0a version. Is that displayed as such or not?
edit: Ah, yes, that seems to be the 0.9.0a version I've downloaded.

OK, this is some kind of random error the scummcrash file won't explain. But since we've already had problems with bsword1 in 0.9.0, and it's in line for investgation soon, you don't need to file a bug report (yet).

Got exactly the same problem with HTC TyTN (WM5 and 0.9.0a).

Any ideas how to fix this?

State: 1) device, 2) resolution, 3) os, 4) ram, 5) paste the latest scummvmCrash file and we'll see what we can do.

From the scummcrash file, I derive the crash is not inside scummvm.exe. This might be caused in a low memory condition. Please try increasing the memory available for programs (using the slider in the memory settings app of the control panel) to about 20MB and try again.

still no idea, _seems_ like some random error. I suggest you open up a bug in our bug tracker, and I'll try to reproduce it. Don't forget to add all of your device info and the scummcrash file.
