no speech in dott
The music and sound effects are working great in Day of the Tentacle, but for some reason I have no speech. Subtitles are showing instead. I checked the Options menu within DOTT and everything is in order (subtitles are even turned off). Also, the Audio settings in ScummVM are at their defaults. Any ideas?

Sounds as if you are using the floppy version of DOTT, which has no speech... (except for the intro, IIRC).

Full speech version comes on CD. Was it your original media?

There is a full speech version of DOTT?
Is it only existing in English, or is there a german version too?

The full speech german version of DOTT can be obtained with the 10 Adventures Pack.
It includes all german games from Maniac Mansion to SamNMax, DOTT and SamNMax are included as German full-speech talkies.
Best regards

Well, I don't want to question your decision, but all I did was posting the size of one of the necessary files.
This is a possible way to recognize whether you own the full talkie or the floppy version.
This has nothing to do with warez and stuff, because as far as I know there are CD compilations that contain the floppy version of DOTT.
If you simply copy the files to your hard disk, you cannot tell what version it is unless you have a look at the file size of, for instance, monster.sou, because this file contains all the necessary speech samples, doesn't it?
Well, this is your forum and I have to accept your decisions.

Thanks--I checked the size of the monster.sou file and it was very small. Much too small to be a game's worth of dialog! Hadn't even thought to check on that before (guess I'm so used to the talkie version, I didn't realize there was another).
Wish me luck in my torrent search =)

No, don't worry--I do own the game. One of the best purchases I ever made was that 6 CD LucasArts pack...Indy, DOTT, Sam n Max...I played those games for years, man. But the CDs are buried somewhere at home and I'm at college.
Trust me, LucasArts games are the shit. They were worth the money and I'm not ripping them off.

If you EVER say something like this again, I'm going to call the moderators to ban you.
The fact that you own the game does NOT make it legal to download them.
Even when it IS the same version you own.
Understood?
