That's really amazing progress you've made there. Congrats! It's always nice to see game engine reimplementations reach a state of maturity. Please post more screenshots in the future :) BTW, could you say a little bit about the relation between Q-Gears and the Wiki on qhimm.com? I once thought that...

Re: Why do some scummvm games have their own F5 menu?

I only know of scumm engine games to have the standard ScummVM menus. OK, now I'm curious. I've played ScummVM games for quite some time now but I never thought about the save game system. Now that someone mentions it: Is there any reason why ScummVM doesn't show the "standard" save/load ...

...which makes me think:

Has anyone ever considered adding SID sound to ScummVM? There's a GPL licensed library available here, however I guess it would require major restructuring because the C64 sound is neither MIDI nor sampling-based...

It's probably not worth the effort I guess

That sounds like an useful cheat, one more reason to hunt down a copy of that game... I think Eye3 has something similar, although not as helpful (it only enables some debug keys) There might be more 3D-dungeon-crawl style games from that time which use the interpreter, who knows... df: You're proba...

I saw your notes on the Wiki and did a little more work on the .RES files, though nothing spectacular right now. I'll see if I can find a cheap copy of Dungeon Hack somewhere. Some time ago I also traced back the links from AESOP to Miles Design, and I sent them an eMail asking for more information....

Well, depending on how you interpret the definition "Adventure", C&C could actually qualify as "Point and Click adventure". You definitely have to point and click a lot in that game ;-)

To do it properly you would need to edit scummvm.ini to contain only relative paths instead of absolute paths, and then create a .bat file which launches ScummVM with the .ini file in the current directory (there's a command line switch for that). Run the .bat file to start ScummVM (or put it into a...

You could simply start another copy of ScummVM for that. (Provided that I understood you correctly)

Geez, lots of weird ideas popping up here lately ;-)

I know for certain that it's in Zak (in the youth hostel on Mars). Do you remember where in DOTT the canister is? I don't remember seeing it there, but then I didn't play DOTT as long and often as I played Zak, so I might just have missed it...

While we're at it: The classical in-joke everybody knows: The gas canister in Zak McKracken: When you try to pick it up, that character says "This is used in another game" or something similar. The other game is, of course, "Maniac Mansion", where countless people have spent coun...

Smacker decoder

Hi! I don't know if this is already well-known or not, but there seems to be an open-source Smacker(TM) implementation available here . It's C# code but it should be relatively easy to port it to C++. It is apparently based on the smacker-decoder from ffmpeg , maybe it's easier to take the code from...

I don't quite get where the problem is here. Okay, I admit I don't own any ScummVM-supperted games which do have a "exit-icon" (certainly all the SCUMM based games I have don't have exit-icons). But what's so difficult about telling your kids "if you want to end playing, just click on...

What CPU do you have? Maybe the binary uses CPU extensions your CPU doesn't provide (Via CPUs often have this problem). Another option would be to run scummvm through strace and/or gdb and look at the backtrace to find out where it crashes, but since DSL stands for "Damn SMALL Linux", I do...
